About Us

OUR JOURNEY

When Fr. Denis was serving in the rural parish of Naluggi in the  rural districts  of Mityana, Mubende and Kiboga  he used to visit people living in extremely poor conditions deep in villages, he also regularly visited schools   and church missions where he saw and experienced the extreme  poverty  of pupils and parishioners  who could barely afforded  basic needs to life.  People’s conditions was partly due to the ravages of civil wars that left so many deaths and orphans in the communities. The  HIV/AIDS epidemic that strongly hit most families in the Luwero triangle district also left many families unable to care for overwhelming numbers of orphans.
Many children coming to school, worked hard to pay for their school fees. Young girls had fell prey  to prostitution and other humiliating habits in order to get fees or scholastic material, consequently, the school dropout  rate increased due to  pregnancies and higher in villages as well as small towns.
Moved by the sourcing conditions of poverty and the suffering of children unable to go to school or stay in school, seeing many girls falling prey to premarital sex, prostitution and diseases, imagining a  future without educated youths. Fr. Denis started SOVUCE – UGANDA  and later TRANSFORMING DESTINIES IN UGANDA, to provide young people an opportunity  to attain a future with hope.
